Dan-O, which falls May 5 of the lunar calendar, is one of the most important festivals along with Lunar New Year’s Day and Chuseok(the Harvest Festival). These three days are said to be days with the most positive element of nature (Yang energy). There are many old customs for women and children to enjoy. Uiwang Dan-O Festival is reproduced so that traditional cultural events can fit into modern times and show the value of traditional culture by experiencing our ancestor’s lives.

There are comprehensive Arts Festival of Uiwang Baegun Arts Festival that citizens can participate in and Uiwang Children’s Festival for children, but there is no regional festival with a subject matter of traditional culture.
Festival is in need to increase harmony since the structure of the city is vertically divided into 3 regions

The opening events : Gilnori ( a parade), Dan-O religious service, Binari(an exorcism)
Invitation Performance: performance of Korean classical music, folk songs, traditional dance (performed by artists within the jurisdiction of the city), guest performance (by artists from outside the city)
Play Events: Traditional wrestling, traditional tuho(a game in which one throws long sticks into a jar far away), arm wrestling, swinging, seesawing, jegi(a kind of shuttlecock game played by feet), breaking calabash.
Contests: Traditional wrestling, traditional tuho, arm wrestling, swinging, seesawing
Experiencing events: rubbed printing of the 12 Zodiacal signs, making a toy top, making a kite, making a Dan-O folding fan, making a traditional mask, washing hair with water infused with sweet flag, twisting straw rope, writing a family motto, hanging a written wish on a wishing tree, tasting Dan-O food
