The origin and the character of the festival
There is a need to have a citizens’ cultural festival that can offer an opportunity to experience various cultures along with the beautiful nature of May –Children’s Month - and in which both adults and children can enjoy events with childhood joy.
Operating a sensuous program at a low cost for children who are addicted to TV and computer games; they can develop imagination and initiative through day to day experiences and play
Regional characteristics
Uiwang city, which was raised to the status of a city as of January 1, 1989, is located within 30 minutes from Seoul, and its location provides easy access for residents in nearby cities. The Railroad Museum, Wangsong Lake and the Nature Park were built last year.
It is a city with great cultural potential, since 90 percent of the city is preserved as a green belt in which green forests and beautiful sceneries are well maintained.
(Mountains: Cheonggye Mountain, Morak Mountain, Baegun Mountain, Obong Mountain, Lakes: Baegun Lake, Wangsong Lake)
Contents of the festival
Performing center: Outdoor theater, Puppet theater, reciting fairy tales, movies.
Experience center: Mud play, Experiencing forest energy, Catching loaches, “learn about the forest” classes, experiencing the railroad.
Contest center : Children’s special skill contest, Arm wrestling contest.
Exhibition center: Photo exhibition of volunteer work images, photo exhibition of Dokdo
Festival ground guide ( transportation, accommodation, food etc.)
Transportation: Take bus number 1-1 or 1-2 from the Uiwang Station (subway line 1)
Accommodation : Use lodging houses like motels in Bugok-dong
Food : Food marketplace will be operated during the festival period.
