Sageunhaeggung Place Site

Sageunhanggungteo was a temporary place where King Jeongjo, who was deeply filial, took a break for the procession of his father, Prince Sado. It is the place where King Jeongjo, having extreme filial affection for his parents, took a break while visiting the royal tomb of his father, Sado Seja (the crown prince). When the bier arrived here while the royal tomb of Sado Seja was being moved from Onyang hot springs to Hwaseong, Suwon in 1789, King Jeongjo ordered the governor of Gyeonggi Province to share rice with the elderly people who gathered at the royal funeral service and had him build a temporary palace called the Sageunhaenggung. In order to memorialize it, a monument was erected and the day was designated as a day for citizens
